ALUMNI NOTES
FALL 2002

'97

Lana Fertelmeister is the owner of "Lana," located on Chicago's Mag Mile. Lana features cutting-edge designers and unique fashions. As a dean's list graduate with a concentration in fashion business and public relations, Lana kicked off her career as the youngest director of Marketing for Bigsby and Kruthers. Post B&K, Lana started her own high-end clothing line sold at Nordstrom's and boutiques nationwide. Now high-energy Lana is concentrating on expanding her store and starting a jewelry line.

Freelance photographer Carrie Maginn has been travelling around the world, mainly Europe and Asia. She plans to move to Scotland and is looking to network with alums in Scotland and the U.K. Carrie graduated Columbia with honors, and awards for a series of color photographs entitled "Lyrics of a Pregnant Woman."

When we last reported on recording artist and alumni advisory council member Reggie Benjamin, his song "Hurry Up" was number one in India. It's now number one in 15 countries. Next up for Reggie is a new video he's filming at Graceland.

Rita Hawn-Muldoon organized Columbia's September 2002 Las Vegas reunion. She's been in Vegas four years, and for the last two has written feature entertainment articles for the Valley Explorer. She's interviewed Steven R. Schirripa (Bobby Baccala) of HBO's "Sopranos;" covered the CineVegas Film Festival; the opening of Second City at the Flamingo; media parties, self defense classes, gun shooting, paintball splattering, roller coasters; and more. She is also involved in the poetry scene; her work won third place and was published in the City Life Newspaper's First Annual Literary issue. She has also been published in The Strip, a publication handed out on the strip by local poets. She was twice featured in The Columbia Poetry Review and was co-editor in 1997. She is a sponsor for Vegas alumni and would love to hear from anyone coming out that way. E-mail Rita at 13silver13@msn.com.
