Indian-American musician Reggie
Benjamin, who combines traditional Indian vocals with
soul and elements of Chicago house music, is declaredly
using a gimmick to promote his debut album,
2x-Centrix. He has gotten Joe
Millionaire runner-up Sarah Kozer to sing for his
single, Crazy Funky, off 2x-Centric,
giving him a high launch pad for the album and extending
Kozer 15 minutes of fame.
Benjamin lives with his parents, who are of South
Indian heritage, in the Chicago suburb of Hinsdale. He
has claimed in published stories in the press, including
the Tribune and Sun-Times, that audiences of his
concerts in India are sometimes in the range of 12,000.
